Easter in the city
The Easter Bank Holiday is fast approaching, and with a fun-filled range of family activities on offer, along with some great spots for the grown-ups to try, you’ll be spoilt for choice when heading into Manchester this coming Easter.
Here are some of the best events coming up.
Giant Easter Egg Hunt, RHS Garden Bridgewater
What better way to celebrate Easter than taking part in a giant Easter Egg Hunt? Our friends at RHS Garden Bridgewater have decided to go the extra mile with a supersized Giant Egg Hunt this year.
On Easter Bank Holiday weekend only, the garden is set to play host to the magical Easter Egg Walkabout, brought to life by fantastic fun makers, The Bread-and-Butter Theatre Company. Any child who finds the hidden eggs will be rewarded with a free, vegan-friendly chocolate to take home.
There’s more, too – all egg hunt activities are included with standard garden admission so you can take in the sights and sounds of nature while hunting for those tasty treats.
Prices are very reasonable, plus RHS Members and children under five get in for free!
Cocktails Ahoy, Manchester Canal Cruises
This Easter, the hugely popular Cocktails Ahoy Canal Cruise returns with its latest iteration of themed cruises in the form of an 80s v 90s cocktail bonanza.
Taking place on Friday 15th of April, over the course of three hours, you’ll be served up the very best pop hits from the 80’s and 90’s on a bespoke cocktail cruise running from Castlefield along the Bridgewater canal.
Enjoy seven freshly made cocktails, all included within your ticket price, served by the onboard Cocktails Ahoy mixologists. Perfect for a group night out or special occasion, the cruise is fitted with its own unique cocktail bar and space for dancing whilst you take in the sounds of cult pop hits from the two eras.
Absolutely Britney Bottomless Lunch Show, Impossible Bar
For one day only, on the 16th of April, the UK’s number one Britney Spears tribute act, Absolutely Britney, is making a special appearance at Impossible Bar, Peter Street.
Over the course of four hours, you and your guests will be treated to a live show, along with brunch, oodles of bottomless bubbles and as many classic Britney tunes as you can handle. The event will be hosted by drag extraordinaires, ‘Paige Three’ and ‘Miss Blair,’ with regular guest performers throughout.
The House with Chicken Legs, HOME Theatre
For three weeks in April, Sophie Anderson’s best-selling novel ‘The House with Chicken Legs’ arrives at HOME Theatre in a brand-new production by award-winning theatre company ‘Les Enfants Terribles’.
Les Infants Terribles, the team behind Olivier Award-nominated ‘Alice’s Adventures Underground’, once again brings their unique style to one of the nation’s favourite novels. Enjoy the thought-provoking story through a myriad of live music, puppetry, and a whole host of magical wonders.
Located just off Whitworth Street, HOME theatre is ideally situated within a short walking distance of our hotel and a number of restaurants.
Fairy Tales Exhibition, Z-arts Theatre, Hulme
The latest introduction to Z-arts, Manchester’s innovative Young Children’s Art & Theatre Space, is the brand-new exhibition ‘Fairy Tales’ designed by illustrator David Litchfield and author Ross Montgomery.
Within this magical wonderland lies a fairy tale town and enchanted woods full of giants, palaces, gingerbread houses, treasure caves and much more for your little ones to explore.
This interactive world of play and storytelling will help capture the spirit and magic of Easter.
