2022: It’s Showtime
The Christmas festivities may be over, but that doesn’t mean the fun ends here. In fact, it’s only just beginning. What better way to ensure winter blues don’t get you down than sitting back, relaxing and getting lost in an all-star performance.
With the likes of The Royal Exchange Theatre, The Lowry, Home, Palace Theatre and Opera House all within easy access of The Ainscow Hotel, there’s something for everyone!
In need of some inspiration? We’ve rounded up a few we’re looking forward to this January (and early February)…
School of Rock – The Musical, Palace Theatre
Based on the hilarious tale of failed rock star Dewey Finn in the classic movie School of Rock, Andrew Lloyd Webbers award-winning West End show returns at the Palace Theatre this January.
Take in the laughs, thrills, romance and iconic soundtrack to this ever-popular story. This high-octane drama is coupled with an awe-inspiring new collection of songs, riffs, and downright craziness, crafted by Andrew Lloyd Webber and world-renowned artist and lyricist Glenn Slater.
Dates: Tuesday 4th January – Saturday 15th January
The Rocky Horror Show, Palace Theatre
Yep, it’s another at the Palace Theatre but we couldn’t resist including The Rocky Horror Show. This wonderfully weird and legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical tour has already been seen by 30 million theatre lovers across the globe. Be prepared for the freaky, naughty, and spooky tales of this hit classic.
Similarly to the School of Rock, tickets are still available at modest prices.
What’s not to love?
Dates: Monday 17th January – Saturday 22nd January
The Comedy Store at Escape to Freight Island
If you’re in need of a belly laugh, head over to Freight Island on Jan 20th or Jan 27th as the Comedy Store is taking over!
Sit back, relax and enjoy the best of both worlds as two favourites come together to create a collaboration and night to remember.
Tickets are listed as £15 and are available to buy online.
Dates: Thursday 20th January & Thursday 27th January
Saturday Night Fever, The Opera House
Making an appearance once more is the eye-catching and fabulous re-imagination of the 70’s hit classic, Saturday Night Fever.
With brand new additions and fresh choreography, what better way to spend your evening with family or friends than enjoying one of the best-selling soundtracks of all time?
With both afternoon and evening slots available, every type of occasion is catered for. This one will have you dancing down the aisle afterwards!

Nobody, HOME
If a dance-circus adventure sounds up your street, the fast-moving Nobody is a performance you won’t want to miss.
